Align your organisation with the EU taxonomy

In the future, you as an organisation you will have to report on how well you are aligned with the EU taxonomy, including with your business premises. The EU taxonomy is part of the EU Green Deal and is intended to make sure your current business activities are in line with the transition to a sustainable economy. By moving into an ATMOS office, you are already guaranteed to meet that requirement.

Benefits of the EU taxonomy

The EU taxonomy ensures that a substantial contribution is being made to fighting climate change, and also that the building meets all the current standards for sustainable water management, the circular economy, pollution and biodiversity. The EU taxonomy guarantees that the building is adapted to future changes in the climate.

These buildings are sought-after by institutional investors, as they believe their market value will increase more and their management costs will be lower than those of traditional office buildings.

In other words, buildings that are aligned with the EU taxonomy are a smart choice for anyone looking for sustainable buildings that respect people and the environment.

Keep global warming below 1.5°C

The European Union wants to limit the negative consequences of climate change as far as possible and make Europe climate-neutral by 2050. To achieve this, it has launched the Decarbonisation Pathways Initiative. The aim of this initiative is to keep global warming below 1.5°C. The decarbonisation pathway determines, among other things, how much CO2 a new building may emit per square metre per year (i.e. the greenhouse gas (GHG) intensity, expressed in kg CO2/m²).

In the diagram, ATMOS' GHG Intensity is shown as a blue line. If the entire energy consumption is taken into account, ATMOS emits less than 0.4 kgCO2/m² annually, as long as the occupant of the building takes out a green power contract. The decarbonisation pathway is represented as a green line, and it gets stricter every year. This shows that ATMOS remains below the maximum CO2 emissions target declared for 2050, and therefore already meets the 2050 climate target now.
